Same sex marriage

Hi there!
So, me (Daniela Mendes) and Inês (Aguiar) are going to talk about same sex marriage.
This is a very controverse topic and we hope to create a interesting discussion tomorrow in the class.
Did you know that homossexuality is still considered a crime?
That is law in aprox. 80 countries, and in some of them, it is given death penalty.
Here in Portugal, the law and legislation concerning this topic is very vague - but the law to accept same sex marriage has been revoked too many times.

This topic causes a tremendous debate whether in news channels or in political assemblies.
In the religious area - many catolics see homossexuality as a sin and against God's will.

What about you?
Are you for or against same sex marriage?
Do you think that same sex couples are entitled to adopt a child too?
Justify your opinion, please.

Hi people!

We have to discuss our presentation here before we discuss it on class so, our presentation (mine and Icaro's ) is about a recent and polemic event on the past 22nd October when a girl, Geyse Arruda enrolled with the Uniban, São Paulo, Brazil was hooted down by her colleagues and sent down of the college just because she was wearing a short skirt.
The main questions are:

Was she really offending someone? Liberal or conservative values?
Why was she sent down? The college should be partial or impartial in such a case? Was it partial or impartial?

we expect you to like the theme and to discuss it with us.

Hello everybody,

Marcia and I are going to talk about the ultimate punishment for horrendous crimes given by a country’s government: the death penalty. Measures towards abolition have been taken in the second half of the 20th century, especially in the past 20 years. Although it has been banned by some nations, a lot of them still perform this cruel and inhuman punishment. It has been a controversial issue for ages due to its ethical and justifiable feature. Therefore, we thought that this would be an interesting subject to be discussed in class and hope you’re into it…

Classroom Discussion

Hey everyone!

So we're supposed to discuss a little on the blog, before we do it in class...
So our topic (Ana's and mine) is: Caim: Religion vs. Atheism.
We intend it to be a discussion not only about Saramago's new romance, but mostly about the differences between religious people and atheists points of view.
With that in mind, I'd like to ask some questions:
1. Have you read the book or any particular part of it, or heard any of Saramago's remarks about the Bible?
2. If so, do you find them disrespectfull or do you generally agree with him?
3. What do you think should be the role of religion in people's lives?
4. What do you think an atheist is?
5. Are atheists amoral?
...
I think that'll do for now...
